The P120C is a new solid fuel engine –which will be used for Ariane 6 and Vega C strap-on booster in order to reduce costs and increase performance. The P120C solid propellant motor is derived from the original Vega launcher’s P80 first stage. Like its predecessor, the structural casing is made of carbon fiber —which is built from pre-impregnated epoxy sheets through filament winding and automatic fabric deposition.

Ariane 6 is modular and will be available in two versions: Ariane 62 –with two P120C solid fuel boosters– and Ariane 64 –with four P120C solid fuel boosters.
