Ariane 6 was designed to be versatile, modular and competitive, leveraging:
Lower Liquid propulsion Module (LLPM)
The Lower Liquid Propulsion Module (LLPM), with a diameter of 5.4 m, is the first stage of Ariane 6. With lower manufacturing cost, the LLPM is powered by the Vulcain 2.1 engine.
Vulcain 2.1 engine
The Vulcain 2.1 engine is part of the Lower Liquid propulsion Module (LLPM) and provide the thrust. This cryogenic engine offers a thrust of 135 tons in the vacuum during the first eight minutes of the flight. The Vulcain 2.1 engine is derived from the original Ariane 5 launcher’s Vulcain 2 engine.
