Vega’s small-sat rideshare mission is delayed

The launch of Arianespace’s Small Spacecraft Mission Service (SSMS) Proof of Concept flight with Vega has been postponed due to the storm track of Typhoon Maysak over South Korea, which requires that the Jeju ground-based telemetry station be protected.

Based on the trajectory of Vega’s Flight VV16, data from the Jeju station in South Korea are essential for monitoring the mission’s progress.

A new launch date will be set based on the evolution of the tropical storm’s situation over the Jeju station and its consequences.

The Vega launch vehicle and its 53 spacecraft payloads are in stable and fully safe conditions at the Spaceport in French Guiana.
