Ariane 5’s mission with EchoStar XVIII and BRIsat is postponed by 24 hours

Liftoff of Arianespace’s Flight VA230 has been delayed by 24 hours. The decision was made after an umbilical connection-related anomaly during operations for Ariane 5’s rollout to the ELA-3 launch zone earlier today.

As a result, the mission – originally scheduled for June 16 – is now planned for liftoff on the following day (June 17), at the start of a 1-hour, 10-minute launch window opening at 5:30 p.m. local time in French Guiana.

The 24-hour postponement will allow time for the equipment to be replaced, plus the necessary validations. The Ariane 5 launcher, with its EchoStar XVIII and BRIsat satellite payloads, remains in a safe standby condition at the Spaceport.
