Ariane 5 Flight VA219 is delayed for complementary launch system verifications
Arianespace has decided to delay Flight VA219 – originally scheduled for July 24 – by a few days, enabling complementary verifications on the Ariane 5 ES launch system.
A new launch date will be announced next week.
This mission will loft the fifth, and final, Automated Transfer Vehicle for servicing of the International Space Station.
Managed by the European Space Agency, the ATV program is part of Europe’s contribution to the crewed orbital facility’s operation. The Automated Transfer Vehicle’s prime contractor is Airbus Defence and Space, which also has the role as Ariane 5 industrial architect.
