Arianespace supports key initiative for the long-term sustainability of space operations

Arianespace welcomes the Space Safety Coalition’s initiative to better preserve the orbital environment and endorses this organization’s related guidelines: “Best Practices for the Sustainability of Space Operations.”

These best practices are implemented for the three launch systems currently operated by Arianespace – the heavy-lift Ariane 5, medium Soyuz and lightweight Vega – by complying with French requirements of the current Space Operations Act.

Arianespace uses space to make life better on Earth by providing launch services for all types of satellites into all orbits. It has orbited more than 600 satellites since 1980, using its family of launchers from sites in French Guiana (South America) and Baikonur, Kazakhstan.

Formed in 2019, the Space Safety Coalition publishes its set of orbit regime-agnostic best practices to improve long-term sustainability of space operations. The guidelines are generally applicable to all spacecraft regardless of physical size, orbital regime or constellation size.
