François Barreau

Senior Vice President, Head of the Ariane/Soyuz Business Unit

Senior Vice-President François Barreau is Head of the Ariane/Soyuz Business Unit at Arianespace.

He joined the company in February 2005, leading the Soyuz programs and associated developments, both in Russia and Europe.

François Barreau was appointed Vice President – Missions in April 2017, managing the exploitation of the Ariane 5, Ariane 6, Soyuz and Vega Business Units, including customer relations.

From January 2003 to February 2005, he took the position of Vice President – Programs at Starsem, leading the execution of launch services from the Baikonur Cosmodrome for institutional and international commercial missions, as well as preparing the project decision for Soyuz at the Spaceport in French  Guiana.

He began his career at the French CNES space agency as RAMS engineer for the Hermes spaceplane, before joining industry at Aerospatiale Defense & Space for the Ariane 5’s development. He graduated from the French ESTACA engineering school in 1985.
