Arianespace, an ArianeGroup subsidiary, provides launch services for all types of satellites into all orbits. The company has set the global standard since 1980, orbiting more than 600 satellites with its family of three launchers: Ariane, Soyuz and Vega. Arianespace is headquartered in Évry, near Paris, and has a technical facility at the Guiana Space Center, Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, plus local offices in Washington D.C., Tokyo and Singapore.

Operations Directorate, Engineering and Operations Directorate, Mission Analysis Department

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Mission Analysis Department is involved in the following areas and activities:

  • The Ariane, Soyuz and Vega launcher families.
  • Three main areas of focus: trajectory/performance, flight control during the ballistic phase and satellite separation, telemetry and real-time flight evaluation. Plus one broader area: range safety and French legislation on space operations.
  • All phases of a satellite project: preliminary design and feasibility before launch contract (launcher mission design), preliminary and final mission analysis after launch contract and flight operations.

Reporting to the Head of the department, you will be involved in all of the Department’s activities for the Ariane, Soyuz and Vega launchers, with a possible focus on Vega, depending on your profile:

  • Coordination and completion of preliminary mission analysis and feasibility studies for trajectory, performance and flight mechanics aspects for all launchers, Ariane, Soyuz and Vega.
  • Coordination of final mission analyses by launcher prime contractors (ArianeGroup, RKTs Progress and Avio):
    • Preparation of mission compliance files with respect to technical regulations.
    • Preparation of telemetry systems for missions and management of real-time flight evaluation.
    • Support for launch campaigns as mission analysis technical authority or real-time flight evaluation manager.
    • Flight data analysis (level 0) for trajectory/performance and flight control during the ballistic phase.
    • Technical support for adaptation and development of launchers in the range.

 

REQUIREMENTS

You should have a degree from an engineering school or equivalent French or European university, with expertise in orbital mechanics, flight mechanics and scientific IT.

The post requires:

  • At least five years of space industry experience. Knowledge of the Vega launch system would be an advantage.
  • Diligence and organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • High level of availability and sense of teamwork.
  • Critical mindset and analytical skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information, convince and present technical information.
  • Fluent English is essential. Knowledge of French and/or Italian would be an advantage.

 

VENUE

Évry (southern suburb of Paris), with frequent travel in France and overseas.
Close to Évry-Courcouronnes RER station (D line).

 

MISCELLANEOUS

Full driver’s license required.
