Arianespace launch a success: Arabsat 5C and SES-2 in orbit

Kourou, September 21, 2011

On Wednesday, September 21, Arianespace orbited two communications satellites, Arabsat 5C for the operator Arabsat, and SES-2 for the operator SES, using an Ariane 5 ECA rocket.

204th Ariane launch, 60th Ariane 5 launch, 46th success in a row

This latest successful Ariane 5 launch, the fifth in 2011, once again proves the launcher’s operational capabilities. Ariane 5 handles a complete range of missions, from commercial launches into geostationary orbit to launches into special orbits.

This was the 60th launch of an Ariane 5, and the 46th successful launch in a row. Ariane 5 is the only commercial satellite launcher now on the market capable of simultaneously launching two payloads.

This latest successful mission clearly shows that Arianespace’s launch Service & Solutions continue to set the global standard and guarantee independent access to space for all customers, including national and international space agencies, private operators and governments.

Supporting leading operators worldwide

Arianespace offers the launch Service & Solutions that best match the needs of leading operators worldwide.

Over the last 26 years, since the launch of Arabsat 1A in 1985, Arianespace and Arabsat have developed a very close relationship. Arabsat 5C is the eighth satellite for which this operator has chosen the European launcher.

Arianespace and SES have developed an exceptional relationship over the last 20 years. SES-2 is the 35th satellite from the SES group (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Bourse: SESG) to be lofted by an Ariane rocket.
