Arianespace at the Berlin Air Show-ILA 2006

During the Berlin Air Show-ILA 2006 from May 16 to 21, Arianespace will be reaffirming its position as the benchmark in launch service providers, with solutions that best match operator needs.
Earning the confidence of the world's major operators
Since January 1st of this year, Arianespace has already signed seven launch contracts. In 2005, Arianespace had already demonstrated its competitiveness by signing nine new launch contracts for Ariane 5 and Soyuz.
Record order book
At May 16, the company's order book stood at 41 satellites to be launched by Arianespace, plus 5 Starsem launches. This is the largest backlog of orders in the launch services industry. Since being founded in March 1980, Arianespace has signed a total of 274 launch contracts.
Continuous consolidation of leadership with Ariane 5 and Soyuz
Last year was a busy one, as Arianespace launched five Ariane 5s from the Guiana Space Center and Starsem launched three Soyuz rockets from the Cosmodrome in Baikonur. These launches placed 11 satellites in orbit, totaling over 36 metric tons of payload.
In March 2006, an Ariane 5 ECA orbited the Hot Bird 7A and Spainsat satellites. With this third successful mission in a row, the Ariane 5 ECA launcher has established its position as the market benchmark.
Sustained pace of operations
The following launches are planned in the coming weeks:
- Ariane 5 ECA launch on May 26: for its second launch of the year, Arianespace will be placing two communications satellites into geostationary transfer orbit: Satmex 6 for Mexico and Thaicom 5 for Thailand.
- Soyuz launch on July 17: Starsem's first launch of the year will place Eumetsat's Metop 1 satellite into polar orbit.
Four more Ariane 5 from Kourou and two other Soyuz launches from Baikonur are scheduled in 2006.
