Arianespace’s position as a satellite launch services leader is spotlighted with its presence in Seoul, South Korea at the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications, Broadcasting and Space Conference – which is the annual event of the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC).

For this year’s conference, the APSCC awards ceremony and dinner were sponsored by Arianespace, with the participation of Chairman & CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall.

The APSCC’s 2012 Satellite Executive of the Year honor was received by Tom Choi, co-founder and CEO of Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS), who has over 20 years of experience in the satellite and aerospace business; while the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Dr. Han Hwangbo, currently the president of U.S-based Space Technology Group, who has been in the forefront of Korea’s satellite industry development for the past several decades.

The Council has been providing such awards since 2004, recognizing innovations and achievements in the satellite and space sectors, as well as acknowledging leadership in developing and distributing new services through satellites in the Asia-Pacific region. The organization also has honored those who have assisted in forming industry policies, regulations and technical standards.

Le Gall received the APSCC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.

The APSCC is a non-profit international association that represents all sectors of satellite and space-related industries, and works to promote communications and broadcasting through satellites and other space-related activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
