2011 Paris Air Show

Le Bourget Airport
June 20-26, 2011

Arianespace’s expanding launch vehicle family was the spotlight at the 2011 Paris Air Show, which is the largest gathering of the global aerospace industry.

At the biennial event – held June 20-26 at Le Bourget Airport – Arianespace’s 150-square-meter outdoor exhibit recreated the excitement of its Ariane 5 and Soyuz launcher operations at the Spaceport in French Guiana through the projection of 3D film and slides.

The 3D films were of a heavy-lift Ariane 5 launch from the Spaceport, as well as the recent full-scale Soyuz “dry run” rehearsal – which involved the medium-lift vehicle’s first rollout to its pad in French Guiana.

This dramatic imagery was prepared especially for Arianespace, and was shown on a 4 x 3-meter outdoor screen located in front of the company’s Paris Air Show hospitality chalet (Row A, Chalet. 232).

Also included in the outdoor exhibit were displays of 1/10-scale Ariane 5 and Soyuz payload fairings to underscore the variety of spacecraft that can be lofted by these launchers.

An update on Arianespace’s market position, along with an overview of the launch services industry, was provided by Chairman & CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall.
