November 19, 2008

Arianespace’s final Ariane 5 mission of 2008 has been scheduled for December 10 on a dual-payload flight at the service of Europe’s Eutelsat telecommunications provider.

It is to be the sixth launch of an Ariane 5 since January, and will carry two satellites to broaden Eutelsat’s television and broadband relay services: HOT BIRD™ 9 and W2M.

Both spacecraft currently are undergoing final checkout at the Spaceport in French Guiana, and their combined mass at liftoff aboard the heavy-lift Ariane 5 ECA will be approximately 8,340 kg.
