Going mobile: Arianespace introduces its new iPhone application and ringtone
March 16, 2010
Arianespace has expanded its strong online presence into the booming mobile phone sector, launching two new technologies that bring the company’s missions into the palm of your hand.
Beginning this week in conjunction with the company’s presence at Satellite 2010, users now can customize their cellular phones with Arianespace’s official iPhone “app,” and be notified of incoming calls by an actual Ariane 5 mission countdown.
Available at Apple’s online App Store, the free Arianespace application allows users to follow the latest company news on their iPhone. In addition, this new app features information on Arianespace and its family of launch vehicles, a running countdown to the next liftoff, photos, videos and more.
This application’s key feature brings live Arianespace launches directly to iPhones, letting users follow a mission as it takes place from Europe’s Spaceport, located in French Guiana.
Arianespace customization is not limited to iPhone users. The company’s first ringtone – which can be downloaded and utilized on most mobile phones – features the official countdown which precedes each Ariane 5 launch.
This “Countdown” ringtone is available in three different formats. To download, right-click the desired file type below and select the “Save target as…” option.
For information on compatibility and how to add this ringtone, please consult your mobile phone’s manual.
iPhone users can download the Arianespace application now on iTunes.
