Jean-Yves Le Gall visited Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Tobishima launcher production facility.

Arianespace's long-term relationship with Japan was underscored by this week's visit of CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall - who met with the company's customers, industry partners and members of the media.

The trip provided an opportunity for Le Gall to visit the Tobishima launcher production facility of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries - which has joined with Arianespace and Boeing Launch Services for an innovative three-way launch services alliance. With this new alliance, mission assurance becomes a reality with commercial customers offered the ability to fly on the three companies' launch systems - including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' H-IIA.

During his four-day stay in the country, Le Gall saw Japanese customers and also discussed the launcher market outlook with journalists during a media lunch.

Arianespace has served Japan since the mid-1980s, and the country continues as a top priority market for the company. A total of 19 satellites have been launched by Ariane for Japan, with the most recent - BSAT-2c for the Broadcasting Satellite System Corporation (B-SAT) -orbited by Ariane 5 in June.
