Arianespace CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall meets the Japanese press
July 8, 2003
More than 60 representatives from the Japanese media heard CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall confirm Arianespace's commitment to remain the world's leading launch services company, as well as the primary supplier of commercial launches for Japan.
Meeting today in Tokyo with reporters from newspapers, television, radio and trade publications, Le Gall underscored the mission flexibility available with Arianespace's Ariane 5 launch vehicle.
He also reminded journalists of Arianespace's growing launcher offering with Starsem's Soyuz (currently operating from Kazakhstan and, in the future, from French Guiana), along with the European Vega lightweight launcher now under development.
The Japanese market remains a priority for Arianespace, which has served the region since the mid-1980s with Ariane launch services, Le Gall said. To date, Arianespace has launched 19 satellites for Japan with the company's most recent mission, Flight 161, orbiting BSAT-2c for Japan's Broadcasting Satellite System Corporation (B-SAT) on June 11.
