Postponement of Ariane 5’s mission with Arabsat-5C and SES-2

Tonight’s Ariane 5 launch with the Arabsat-5C and SES-2 satellites has been postponed because of a local strike action at the Spaceport in French Guiana.

This strike, undertaken by the Trade Union of French Guiana Workers (UTG) against the Telespazio company, has interrupted the Spaceport’s measurement means, which are necessary for launch.

As a result, Arianespace and the Spaceport’s operator – the French CNES space agency – have decided to delay the mission.

CNES and Telespazio have asked the UTG to continue the labor-management talks. A new launch date will be announced as soon as possible.
